October 8th, 2025 - VMU #2 by CMA THE DOPE MAN You are currently on: PAGE 3 Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Page 4 Time to check out the PlanetWeb bookmarks. I'm not sure what web browser disc they saved these with, but from experience the PlanetWeb favorites or bookmarks or whatever you wanna call them will open in pretty much any version of Planetweb. I'm going to be using the custom PlanetWeb 2.6 version on the XDP browser disc. Oh... oh no.... We got a C progooner. Dennis Ritchie would be proud, I guess.. Here are the URLs for the links: Bro really wanted to learn how to C(um). I did plug some of these URLs into The Wayback Machine, and uh, yeah it's early 2000s porn alright lol. I will admit I knew about these bookmarks prior to writing this post, in fact I have I think 2 or 3 more VMUs from this same person that have the exact same bookmarks on them, but different game saves (maybe I will cover these in the future). Bro really wanted to make sure he had them links. Next. DreamSNES - So this one threw me for a loop, I had to do some research. This is a SNES emulator for the Dreamcast based off of Snes9x. The save file on this VMU is a SRAM save state for Mario Paint. I did find an already compiled copy of DreamSNES online somewhere (cannot remember where) that already had included ROMs, however the version of Mario Paint that was included was the PAL version which refused to load the SRAM file. It also took quite a while for me to figure out that the Dreamcast mouse (yea you need it for Mario Paint, even on Dreamcast) had to be plugged into and only into controller port 1. You can compile your own DreamSNES disc with your own included ROMs however it looks like it's a pain in the ass. This also makes me wonder what version of DreamSNES the previous owner was even using. Who knows. I did fire up ZSNES and Snes9x on Linux but I couldn't figure out how to only load an SRAM. Maybe I'm stupid (very likely) or it's something you can't actually do, dunno. This kind of stuff is outside my area of expertise so if you wanna take a crack at viewing the contents of this SRAM, here ya go. Email me if you find anything juicy. There, uh, ain't shit here on Virtual Tennis, dawg. The singles and doubles scores are just the defaults. Next. Dead or Alive 2 - This actually turned out to be the Japanese version of DOA2. The only way I knew that was because filename for the save file has "JPN" in it. Couldn't get the USA release to load the save. Oh yeah, also, Jiggle tits galore. Hey jackass! My eyes are up here!! AAAAAAAAAAAND there are ain't shit here either. This must be one of those games that just plops a save on your VMU as soon as you boot it up. I won't show all the score screens but trust me I looked at all of them, there's nothing but the defaults here. I do wonder how previous owner booted this up though, wonder if they a GameShark CDX or CodeBreaker disc. We will never know. OK, it's now time for the grand finale. Let's do this thang. I'm gonna show the overall process of how I restore characters. This is not a tutorial. In fact I'll probably forget to list some stuff because this is a convoluted process. I've gone ahead and exported the GUILD CARD and MAIN DATA files from VMU Explorer: Now we load them into PSO GUI Tool by RazorX (have to run this in a Windows 10 virtual machine as I could not get this to work in Linux) and have it decrypt the files: OK now let's see what the character details are. I'll list the full details below since they may be hard to read on the screenshot. Name: Kali Section: PINKAL Meseta: 0 Total EXP: 851,797 Level: 71 PSO GUI Tool does not tell you if the character is V1 or V2, but lets you see what level that character would be if it was V1 or V2. I should note that if you guys are gonna be decrypting characters from VMUs found in the wild, speaking from experience, most of them are going to be V1. See ya on the next page.
