October 8th, 2025 - VMU #2 by CMA THE DOPE MAN You are currently on: PAGE 4 Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Page 4 Time to re-encrypt with my genuine USA V1 SNAK that I'm not gonna show you. More than likely I will have to upgrade it to V2 when I go to take it online, as all my actual consoles that I play online with have V2 SNAKs saved in the Dreamcast motherboard flash. I'm going to be loading this character on the console I usually play on, my modded VA2 Dreamcast with the smoke grey shell and modem (if you ever see a guy on PSO named 'CMA' that's me, and I'm playing on this console). Now it's time to copy the re-encrypted PSO files back over to the COPY VMU. To do this, I use a few things: Dreamcast Broadband Adapter (BBA), Windows VM running DC-TOOL GUI, a CDI copy of DC-LOAD IP to run on the Dreamcast. I'm now loading up the PSO Patcher boot disc first, then putting in my stock USA PSO V2 disc, that way it strips out the V2 frozen dialing screen once I connect to Sylverant. For those that don't know, PSO V2 on Dreamcast required you to use a credit card (front artwork even says 'Credit Card Required for Online Play'). If you connect to a private server nowdays using only a stock V2 disc, the screen will freeze as soon as it finishes the connection. The PSO Patcher boot disc strips out the credit card check in PSO V2, letting the game finish the connection and allow you to, uh, actually play the damn game lol. From my testing, you cannot just use an Ives patched disc, as it won't accept the SNAK for whatever reason. Upgrading the character from V1 to V2... As far as I'm aware this doesn't make any significant changes to the character itself. All stats and items stay the same. V2 just allows you to do more stuff and get more/different items (more or less). Also, for those wonder what the hell 'V1' and 'V2' are, these are the two different versions of Phantasy Star Online (PSO) that came out on the Sega Dreamcast. V1 came out first in 2000, V2 came out at the tail end of 2001. If you were already playing on V1 and later bought PSO V2, you could upgrade your V1 character to work on V2. V2 basically has a lot of bug fixes, more items, more quests, and more things you can do (it was also pay to play, as it required a credit card). Now back to Kali. We're dialing... C'mon we're almost there... BOOM we're in. Fuck yeah, Kali lives!! Here is their inventory: Here is what's in their bank: Here's Kali's guild card, I think there's a joke I'm missing here: Here are their acquired guild cards (4 pages of them): The 'Serge Jr.' guild card is interesting. Those who watch HappyConsoleGamer on YouTube may know that he used to go by the name 'Serge' back in the PSO days, and had a few VMUs with alt characters. I wonder if this was one of them? Here's all their custom symbol chats (all 12 slots full): Back online after 20-something years and already making new friends. How cute. Well you've made it to the end. If you're still reading, thanks for checking out the site again. I have *plenty* more material and even PSO characters to restore, and I'm gonna document all of them here on....... If you have any questions, death threats, hate mail, your matriarch's panties be sure to e-mail to them to me here, for research purposes of course. Oh yeah, also, if you think your goon links will never be found, think again cum brain. PEACE ! ! !
